Highlands at Forest Park Phase I
Completion Date: Nov 2000
Const. Value: $8,000,000

ABNA provided all material testing and construction staking for this new office development on Oakland Avenue near Forest Park.  Construction staking included layout for all access roads within the site as well as locating the corners for the foundation of the three story garage.  Layout for the roads was done “on-call” under construction.  The coordinates for the roads had to match control points tied into Oakland Avenue.  Materials tested included soil, concrete, asphalt, and structural steel.

North & South Broadway - Wards Project
Completion Date: Mar 2001
Const. Value: $4,000,000

ABNA conducted route surveys on a 12-mile section of Broadway. This involves topographic surveys and cross sections every 100 ft.  ABNA also provided engineering design services for a 2-mile section of the alignment. Design components included improving the vertical profile, drainage and utility adjustments.

Katy Bike Trail Extension
Completion Date: Dec 1999
Const. Value: $500,000

ABNA conducted a topographic survey of the ditch sections along approximately 6,500 feet proposed alignment of the Katy Trail extension, located within property known as the Missouri Research Park.  ABNA also located property corners and utilities as provided by the client and set horizontal and vertical survey control points, for the construction phase of the project.  ABNA also provided additional topographic surveys to tie the alignment to the existing Katy Trail.

Design Surveys for MSD

ABNA has provided a number of surveys for MSD design projects over the last several years.  The requirements of these surveys have ranged from preparing strip maps, easement plats, and topos to flood plain studies.  Below is a list of various MSD projects and the surveying services ABNA has provided on each.

Gravois Trunk Sanitary Relief Sewer
St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District
Completion Date: June 2000
Construction Value: $35,000,000

Surveying Services: Performed over 8 miles of topographic survey, established 60 boring locations, and preliminary strip maps.

Garner Prather Relief Sewer
Metropolitan Sewer District
Completion Date: May 2001
Construction Value: $350,000

Surveying Services: Provided the strip map, topographic survey, and easement plat.

Harlem Baden Combined Storm & Sanitary Phase I
Metropolitan Sewer District
Completion Date: June 2000
Construction Value: $485,000

Surveying Services:  Provided the strip map, topographic survey, and easement plat.

King George & Bonfils Basins Infiltration/Inflow Studies
Metropolitan Sewer District
Completion Date: April 1999
Prof. Service Fee: $16,500

For this project ABNA performed manhole elevation surveys for George Butler & Associates.  The scope of the project included over 600 manholes between the two projects.

We started the project by establishing the location of all manholes and flagging and numbering them for ease of identification.  We then identified MSD Bench marks and performed a level circuit between all benchmarks to verify accuracy of Benchmark elevations. Temporary Bench marks were set between the MSD benchmarks.

A level circuit loop was conducted daily to establish the rim elevations of the identified manholes.  All loops had to close within two hundredths of a foot.

Breckenridge to Baltimore Storm Channel
Metropolitan Sewer District
Completion Date: March 1999
Const. Value: $3,000,000

The objective of this project was to evaluate the hydraulics of the 1200’ channel and size it for a 15-year storm event.  An existing 250 ft. long, 10’X6’ box culvert and other water crossing structures were evaluated for resizing.  Another challenge was minimizing the need for easements and utility relocations to accommodate improvements.

To provide sufficient data for design, the survey team collected over 8000 data points.  These points were shot along the channel, on Breckenridge and Baltimore, and along the property lines of the residences and commercial buildings abutting the channel.  Once this data was processed for design, ABNA also prepared easement plats for 12 properties.
